Organizational Relationships
- Reports to: Visitor's Center Manager
- Directs: This is a nonsupervisory position.
- Other: Offers information services for the Williams and Forest Service Visitor Center and works closely with the general public, Forest Service, National Park Service, and the City of Williams Staff.
Essential Duties
- Greets visitors, answers inquiries and provides accurate information to the general public.
- Performs general clerical duties, including typing, printing, answering telephones, and filing documents.
- Organizes, orders, and maintains collateral other destinations, businesses, and area activities provide.
- Remains aware of inventory of items for sale, provides inventory needs to VC Manager, and restocks items when needed.
- The Visitor Center's cash register and credit card machine record sales of items, and the cash register is balanced.
- Creates and manages files and maintains Visitor Center records accurately.
- Answers routine correspondence. Prepares and mails visitor packets in response to inquiries/leads.
- Ensures collateral information is prepared and delivered for direct mail.
- Assists other Visitor Center Staff when needed.
- Performs other related duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Work requires strong customer service skills, local area knowledge, office administrative procedures, and use and operation of standard office equipment, including postage meters, telephones, and computers.
- Work requires using a cash register, balancing a daily cash drawer, making change, and running a credit card machine.
- Must have a good command of the English language, both oral and written.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Must know various computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software, and be able to type.
- Must have high interpersonal skills to handle visitor inquiries and confidential situations. The position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
- Some analytical ability is required to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various problems, and prioritize work.
- Work requires continual attention to customer service and working well with others in a sometimes fast‐paced environment.
- Work requires organization, flexibility, patience, and a liking to interact with people, establish priorities, and meet deadline, must be able to work weekend schedule Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
